Who loves to Garden, when not sewing of course?!

Writer: Dawne WhelpleyDawne Whelpley

Me, I love gardening. I must admit it is getting harder to do with all the bending and digging. As a matter of fact this Thursday is my birthday and at that new age, I won't be jumping over any hedges to celebrate.

For all of you who saw my garden when coming to sew in the studio, it was apparent that it was a work in progress. I am happy to say, when you come again, you will see it is finished.

Speaking of it being finished ... it is being shown on the Vernon Garden Tour, which happens on June 8th from 9am to 3pm. While my little garden is probably not as elaborate and beautiful as some of the others that will be showing on the tour, I am so proud to even be considered. If you haven't gone on the tour in past years and gardening is something you like, I advise you to get tickets soon, available at the People Place and the garden centers around town. It is special and the proceeds of the ticket sales will be going to a local non-profit organization. So, you will be being a 'goodie 2 shoes' at the same time. For those of you who haven't heard of a 'goodie 2 shoes', it is an old expression, kinda like me, but I have no idea how it started. There will be musicians playing at some of the houses and possibly snacks, I think, but don't hold me to the snack offer.

Note: the organizer goofed with my address so if you see signs directing to a different house number than 1501 just ignore them and come to me at the end of the street, where you have been before and I have been forever. Some of you haven't even seen the new sewing studio yet so that can be a plus.

I have a booth at Creative Chaos the same day and think it would be fantastic if you come see me there and then see me on the garden tour. How can I be in two places at once, you ask? It is a surprise!
